Canine Pregnancy Relaxin Test

The Canine Pregnancy Relaxin Test is a rapid test to detect relaxin in bitches that may be pregnant. The suggested detection period is 22-30 days after mating. Too early detection may lead to a negative result when relaxin in serum is too low. It is suggested to repeat the test after 1 week if a negative result was observed. The pet pregnancy test kit is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for qualitative detection of realxin in serum specimens.

The Relaxin is a specific hormone generated mainly by the placenta. It is usually used as an indicator of pregnancy status in female dogs. In pregnant dogs, relaxin can be detected from 15 days after the nidation of fertilized egg in the uterus wall. 

Using a newly created relaxin enzyme immunoassay, the content of relaxin in peripheral blood plasma during canine pregnancy was evaluated for its potential as a pregnancy indication. At day 24 following ovulation, a considerable relaxin rise was seen in pregnancy. However, neither the size of the litter nor the buck's body weight was correlated with this relaxin rise. Reduced peripheral relaxin levels after abortion was induced with prostaglandin F2 alpha point to placental harm brought on by this medical procedure. As a result, the findings support the notion that relaxin, a substance made by the placenta, can be used to diagnose early pregnancy in dogs. It is advised to measure relaxin to identify pregnancy, either on its own or in conjunction with ultrasonographic results.

• The Canine Pregnancy Relaxin Test in dogs was based on the analysis of sandwich lateral flow immunochromatography. The equipment has a test window for observing the test operation and the reading of the results. 

• Before running the test, the device window has an invisible t (test) area and a C (control) area. When the treated sample is applied to the sample hole on the equipment, the liquid flows across the surface of the strip and reacts with the precoated monoclonal antibody. 
• If the concentration of laxin in the sample exceeds the detection limit, a visible T-line will appear. After applying the sample, the c-line should always appear, which indicates the valid result.
• In this way, the device can indicate the presence of laxin in the sample with detection limits above. 

  
  

Prior to testing, let the Canine Pregnancy Relaxin Test apparatus, sample, buffer, and/or controls acclimate to room temperature (15–30 °C).

1. Take fresh serum or plasma samples from dogs, being careful to prevent turbidity or precipitation. Don't keep the samples at room temperature for too long.

2. The device's card for the test kit should be placed horizontally after being removed from the foil packet.

3. Utilizing the provided dropper, absorb the serum and apply three drops (100 ul) to the sample well (S).

4. Ten minutes are needed to prepare for the interpretation. Please allow no less than 5 minutes nor more than 15 minutes if the interpreter is early.

Positive

There are two separate red lines on the Canine Pregnancy Relaxin Test. Indicate to doges that the dog is pregnant by drawing two lines, one in the control area (C) and the other in the region (T).

Negative

The control zone has a single red line (C). If there is no visible red or pink line in the area (T), either the blood does not contain enough relaxin to be detected or the dog is not pregnant.

Invalid

The control line does not display. The most frequent causes of control line failure are insufficient specimen volume or improper procedural procedures. Review the steps and perform the test once again using a different tool. Contact your local distributor right once and stop using the test kit if the issue continues.
