What is Canine Parvovirus?

Acute gastrointestinal sickness in pups is frequently brought on by the extremely infectious canine parvovirus (CPV), a viral infection that affects dogs. The condition primarily affects puppies between the ages of six and twenty weeks, while it can occasionally afflict older animals as well. Myocarditis is an uncommon type of the illness that can appear in newborn puppies (an inflammation of the heart muscle).

Lethargy, sadness, and loss or lack of appetite are common CPV symptoms, which are then abruptly followed by high fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. One possible cause of your dog's episodes of bloody vomiting and/or diarrhea is other conditions, such as CPV. To assist identify whether your dog has CPV infection, your veterinarian can perform a number of tests.

Principle

The Canine Parvovirus Distemper Virus Antibody Combo Test based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test card has a testing window for the observation of assay running and result reading. The testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone before running the assay. When the treated sample was applied into the sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow through the surface of the test strip and react with the pre-coated recombinant antigens. If there are CPV or CDV antibodies in the specimen, a visible T line will appear in the relative window. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, which indicates a valid result. By this means, the device can indicate the presence of CPV and CDV antibodies in the specimen.

Interpretation of Result

Positive: Two lines appear on the device. One line should always appear in the control line region(C), and another one apparent colored line should appear in the test line region.

Negative: One colored line appears in the control region(C).No apparent colored line appear in the test line region.

Invalid: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new Canine Parvovirus Distemper Virus Antibody Combo Test device.
