The Canine Giardia Antigen Rapid Test Device is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Giardia antigen (Giardia Ag) in dog's feces or vomit specimen. 

Giardia duodenalis infection is the cause of canine giardiasis. This protozoa, which is extremely contagious and resistant to environmental factors, is found all over the world. Giardia has many assemblages (or "types") that have been classified as A through H, with kinds C and D infecting dogs the most frequently. Giardiasis is most frequently identified by veterinarians when owners report a rapid onset of diarrhea in their young dog. Infected dogs typically have a history of coming from areas where there are a lot of dogs, or having been around other dogs, or having been locations where other dogs go (e.g. dog parks).

The damage caused by these tiny parasites attaching to the intestinal wall results in an abrupt, unexpected onset of foul-smelling diarrhea. Dogs with giardia infections may have weight loss, persistent, unpredictable diarrhea, and greasy stools. The feces may be mushy or watery, frequently have a greenish tint, and occasionally have blood in them. Excess mucus is frequently found in the feces of infected dogs. Vomiting could happen sometimes. The symptoms might last for many weeks before weight loss starts to show. So the Canine Giardia Antigen Rapid Test is very necessary.

The sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic technique is the foundation of the Canine Giardia Antigen Rapid Test. Before starting the assay, the window has an invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone.

The pre-coated monoclonal antibodies will react with the treated sample when it is inserted into the sample hole on the pet rapid test kit gadget. The treated sample will laterally flow across the strip's surface. A recognizable T line will show up if the samples contains Giardia antigen.

After a sample is applied, the C line should always show as this denotes a legitimate outcome. This enables the equipment to detect the Giardia antigen in the samples with accuracy.

Allow the device, specimen, buffer, and/or controls to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30 °C) prior to testing.

1、Collect dog’s feces or vomit with the swab stick from dog’s anus or on the ground. The amount of fecal swab as follows:

2. Insert the wet swab into the provided plastic tubes with buffer. Agitate it to assure good sample extraction.

3. Place the device on a clean and level surface. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 drops of extracted sample (approximately 120 μl) to the specimen well (S) of the Canine Giardia Antigen Rapid Test device, then start the timer. See illustration above.

4. Read the result at 5 minutes. Do not interpret results after 10 minutes
