Canine Ehrlichia Antibody Rapid Test Device

The Canine Ehrlichia Antibody Rapid Test Device is an indirect lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Ehrlichia Canis antibodies (Ehrli Ab) in canine serum/plasma.

Conditions and scope of use

        Store as packaged in the sealed pouch either at room temperature or refrigerated (2-30 °C). The test is stable through the expiration date printed on the sealed pouch. The test device must remain in the sealed pouch until use. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not use beyond the expiration date.

Testing Procedure

Allow the test device, specimen, buffer, and/or controls to equilibrate to room temperature (15-30 °C) prior to testing.

• 1.Collect canine’s fresh serum or plasma samples and ensure that the samples cannot be turbid or precipitated. Do not leave the specimens at room temperature for prolonged periods. 
  

• 2. Take out the test card from the foil pouch and place it horizontally.

• 3. Collect 20μ L of the prepared specimen or one drop into a vial of assay buffer and mix well. Then drop 3 drops (approx. 120μ L) of the diluted sample into the sample well “S” of the test card. See illustration above.

• 4. Interpret the result in 10 minutes. Result after 15 minutes is considered as invalid.

Canine Ehrlichia Antibody Rapid Test Device Interpretation of Results

         Ehrlichia are rickettsiae, which are bacteria that reside within cells. Ehrlichiosis is the sickness they cause. Ehrlichia canis and Ehrlichia ewingii are the most prevalent Ehrlichia species that cause illness in dogs.

        These bacteria are found in ticks. When these ticks bite your dog, microorganisms in their saliva infect him. This illness can be spread by a variety of tick species. The brown dog tick, lone star tick, American dog tick, and black-legged tick are the most prevalent. Ticks spread infection after many hours of adhesion to your dog.

        Ehrlichia infiltrates monocytes, which are immune system cells in your dog. Some species target platelets, which are required for blood coagulation. In dogs, Ehrlichia can result in low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) and bleeding.

The symptoms of Ehrlichia might be acute or persistent (chronic). Acute symptoms appear 7 to 21 days following a tick bite and are hence prevalent during the summer, when ticks are active. The following are common symptoms:
