| What is Canine Brucellosis? |
The bacterium Brucella canis is the source of the infectious bacterial illness known as canine brucellosis (B. canis). Between dogs, this bacterial illness is extremely infectious. Infected dogs typically acquire a sexually transmitted illness or an infection of the reproductive system.Brucella may infect a variety of animals, including sheep, goats, cattle, deer, elk, pigs, and others.
| How is Canine Brucellosis Spread? |
The sexual fluids (semen or vaginal discharges) of an infected dog shed large amounts of B. canis germs. The dogs saliva or urine may also contain smaller quantities of microorganisms. A female dog with brucellosis who miscarries her pup will continue to expel brucellosis-infected secretions for 4-6 weeks after the miscarriage. Dogs are exposed to the illness through contact with body fluids that are contaminated.Large numbers of B. canis germs are shed by an infected dog's sexual secretions (semen or vaginal discharges). Smaller amounts of bacteria may also be present in the dog's saliva or urine. After losing her pup, a brucellosis-infected female dog will continue to discharge brucellosis-infected fluids for 4-6 weeks. Dogs come into touch with polluted bodily fluids, which exposes them to the disease.

The Canine Brucella Antibody Rapid Test is for in vitro veterinary diagnosis use only. All result should be considered with other clinical information available with veterinarian. It is suggested to apply a further confirmative method when positive result was observed.
| Test Procedure |
| Step one | Collect dog's fresh whole blood, serum or plasma specimen for use. Immediately apply the testing once collected the specimen |
| Step two | Take out The Canine Brucella Antibody Rapid Test from the foil pouch and place it horizontally |
| Step three | Place 3μL of serum or plasma specimen into the sample hole of the test. (If whole blood or milk specimen, please place 6μL) |
| Step four | Wait for about 10 seconds and immediately place 2-3drops (approx.60-80μL) of assay buffer into the sample hole of the test |
| Step five | Interpret the result in 5-10 minutes. Result after 10 minutes is considered as invalid |
| Interpretation of Result |
Analysis of the inspection results of The Canine Brucella Antibody Rapid Test:
Positive: The presence of both “C” line and zone “T” line, no matter T line is clear or vague.
- Negative: Only clear C line appear. No T line.
Invalid: No colored line appears in C zone. No matter if T line appears.
