The Hemoglobin Strip HB Strip for Testing Hemoglobin(Hb) in Human Whole Blood, for in vitro diagnostic use only, Model BS-101

Hemoglobin is the main component of red blood cells whose main function is to transport oxygen.

Typically, a routine complete blood count (CBC) test from a blood sample includes the measurement of hemoglobin. The amount of hemoglobin in grams (gm) per deciliter (dL) of whole blood-one deciliter being equal to 100 milliliters-is how the hemoglobin level is stated.
Hemoglobin can be measured in a number of ways, the majority of which are currently carried out by automated devices built to carry out various tests on blood.

Precaustions

* For in vitro diagnostic use only.

*The strip should remain in the closed canister until use.

*Do not use after the expiration date.

*Do not touch the reagent area of the strip.

*Discard any discolored or damaged strips.

All specimens should be considered potentially hazardous and handled in the same manner as an infectious agent.

*The used strip should be discarded according to local regulations after testing.

*Check the code chip before performing a test. Make sure to use the code chip that is included with the canister of strips. The code chip into the code chip slot. THe code chip slot is located on the left side of the meter.

Hemologin Testing Procedure

Test strip should be used with our meter.

Insert the code chip

Refer to Coding the Meter in the User's Manual. Compare the code number on the code chip with the code number printed on the test strip canister label.

Use the strip 

Remove the strip from the closed canister and use it as soon as possible.close the canister tightly after removing the required  Hemoglobin Strip HB Strip.

Insert the strip

Wait for the meter to flash the strip symbol. Insert the strip completely into the Strip Channel in the same direction as the arrows printed on the test strip

Add the Specimen

While the meter is flashing the blood drop symbol, apply 10uL of venous blood or a drop of fingertip blood to the test zone of  the test strip. 

The Hemoglobin meter (x)and Hemoglobin Strip HB Strip were used by a trained technician to test EDTA preserved venous blood specimens from 100 participants. The same specimens were analyzed using ICSH reference method(y).The same testing was performed using capillary blood specimens from another 100 participants. The results are compared below:

Erythrocytes in the specimen are lysed to release hemoglobin. The hemoglobin is converted to methemoglobin. The intensity of the color produced from this reaction is proportional to the hemoglobin concentration.

*Men :           13.0-17.0g/dL(130-170g/L, 8.1-10.5 mmol/L)

*Women :   12.0-15.0g/dL(120-150g/L, 7.4-9.3 mmol/L)

*Children : 11.0-14.0 g/dL(110-140g/L, 6.8-8.7 mmol/L)

Reference ranges may vary between laboratories. Every laboratory should establish its own reference range as needed.
