Triglycerides Test Strips

The Triglycerides Test Strips use a timed-endpoint method to measure the Triglycerides(TG) concentrations in whole blood,serum or plasma. The system monitors the change in absorbance at 620 nm at a fixed-time interval. The change in absorbance is directly proportional to the concentration of lipid in the specimen.

The reference ranges used by laboratories may differ. As needed, each laboratory should establish its own reference range.

Blood lipid levels will fluctuate dramatically depending on the food consumed or the amount of exercise performed.

The Triglycerides Test Strips work with the Dry Biochemical Meter or Blood Lipid Meter to measure the concentration of Triglycerides (TG) in whole blood, plasma and serum.

1. Insert the code chip into the meter and properly code it. For more information, see the User's Manual's section on coding the meter. To avoid inaccurate results, compare the code number on the code chip to the code number printed on the test strip canister or foil pouch and ensure the two numbers are identical.

2. Verify that the specimen type matches the specimen type tested. If not, select the appropriate specimen type. For more information, consult the User's Manual. Take the test strip out of the canister or foil pouch.

3. Wait for the meter to display Insert Strip. Insert the test strip completely into the test strip channel in the same direction as the arrows printed on the test strip.

4. Prepare the specimen for testing. For venous whole blood/plasma/serum specimens, mix for approximately 15 minutes. Wipe away the first drop of blood from the capillary blood specimen.

5. Using a capillary transfer tube or pipette, collect 10L of the second or third drop of capillary blood specimen. For more information, consult the User's Manual. Touch the tip of the capillary transfer tube to the blood drop while holding the tube slightly downward.

6. Draw the specimen and then stop when it reaches the fill line.

7. Apply a pipette or capillary transfer tube to the Specimen Application Area of the Triglycerides Test Strips while the meter is flashing the blood drop symbol. To apply the blood, align the tip of the pipette or capillary transfer tube with the Specimen Application Area. The meter will display four dashed lines to indicate that the test is ongoing.

8. In 2 minutes, read the results on the screen. For detailed test procedures, consult the User's Manual.
   

Low measurements can occur when uric acid and ascorbic acid concentrations are high. Anticoagulants like heparin and EDTA are advised to be used with venous whole blood. Avoid using EDTA plasma, which produces better results. Other anticoagulants, such as iodoacetate, sodium citrate, or those containing fluoride, should not be used. Arterial blood should not be used. Hemolyzed blood or thrombolytic therapy blood may have a negative impact on the Triglycerides Test Strips  results. Venous occlusion may affect the results and should be avoided when drawing blood.
