Read a Drug Test
After selecting the appropriate urine screening cup, you can begin testing and interpreting the results. Collecting and interpreting specimens entails taking the necessary steps to accurately determine the test result. This entails being familiar with the test's components and how to interpret each one.
Determine Control and Test Regions
At the top of each panel, there will be a Control Region (C) and a Test Region (T) specific to the drug being tested. The Control Region indicates that the test is functioning properly, while the Test Region indicates whether or not the drug being tested for is present.
Following the collection of a sample, a line should appear next to the control region, or the C mark. If the Control line does not appear after 10 minutes, discard the test and administer a new one.
Collect a Sample
The 12 Panel DrugConfirm Advanced Flat Panel Urine Drug Test Cup with Adulterants is a popular multi-drug screen kit. Because it detects multiple substances at once, a multi-drug test kit can save time. The individual being tested must urinate into the sample cup to the required volume for testing. A small specimen may not produce accurate results.
Wait for 5 mins
One major advantage of instant urine drug tests (i.e. cups and dip cards) and mouth swab drug tests is that they are designed to produce results within a few minutes of specimen (urine) collection.
Recognize Colored Lines
Negative Drug Test Findings
The result is NEGATIVE if a colored line appears next to both the Control Region and the Test Region (as shown above). A negative result indicates that the drug(s) in question were not detected. When evaluating results, the color intensity (faintness or darkness) of the line is ignored. A faint line DOES NOT imply that the specimen contains trace amounts of a particular drug metabolite.
Positive Drug Test Findings
When there is no line in the Test Region (T) but a colored line in the Control Region (C), the drug test result is POSITIVE. A positive urine test result indicates that the drug test detected the drug or drugs in question. A positive drug test result could signal the start of legal action against an employee, parolee, student, or other person who abuses illegal drugs.
Before determining a positive result, ensure that the Control Region (C) is marked with a colored line, indicating that the test is valid and non-defective. If there is no colored line indicating the Control Region (C), the test is invalid and the result may be incorrect.
