Hemoglobin Meter

There are direct colorimetric method (sahli hemoglobin meter) and photoelectric colorimetric method for hemoglobin quantification. The former is to add blood to 0.1N hydrochloric acid to change hemoglobin into hemin hydrochloride, then add water to dilute it until its brown concentration is equal to that of the standard tube, and then take out the sample tube to read the scale on the liquid surface. At this time, the degree represents sahli% (100% for healthy adult men) or g/dl. The latter is a standard method recommended by the international society of Hematology. It measures hemoglobin in the form of cyanoferraemoglobin. The hemoglobin concentration is measured by comparing the measured value of the ammeter of the photoelectric colorimeter with the measured value of the standard solution. G/dl can be read out directly if a special hemoglobin instrument is used.
